More MessageThe air conditioning compressor is driven by a separate belt that is mounted low on the engine and behind the accessory belt. Both belts have GM auto-tensioners which maintain spring pressure to automatically adjust for optimum tension as the belt wears. Belt noise begins when the spring weakens or the pulley bearing begins to wobble.
More MessageA belt tensioner that consists of a bolt plate that mounts on the engine a spring-loaded arm and a pulley applies tension to the belt. The pulley itself has an outer ring and an inner bearing. If the pulley is making noise either it s the result of a bearing failure or the spring is not providing the proper tension.

If there is any wobble squeak or undue
More MessageApr 11 2018 · This wobble is either the cause of or the result of the belt "jumping" or "slapping" between the crank and water pump. As I said before both of those pulleys run smooth. I tried adding additional tension to the tensioner while the engine was running with mixed results (smoothed out some but still not rock solid like other engine).
